Philippians 3:8-14. All the mystics have made a similar point: Once you experience salvation through Christ and are aware how free a gift it is, given without consideration for anything we might have done, you realize that it alone is worth holding on to.
John 8:1-11. The story of the woman caught in adultery is a story of great compassion and divine forgiveness. After all, the woman was caught in the act (presumably, with a man who got away!). She was guilty, yet Jesus convinced the crowd not to punish her as the Torah required, and then he forgave her sin.
