NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME C Lectionary #117
How do we view the future? Do we look forward in hope, trusting that God's promises will be fulfilled? Do we look for the completion of what we now celebrate in sacramental form: the reign of God?

Wisdom 18:6–9. The author of the Book of Wisdom lived long after the Exodus and the time of the prophets. Looking back across Israel 's long history, he saw in the slaves of Egypt a hope—an expectation of future fulfillment—that would be appropriate for people in his own time.

Suggested Common Psalm
Ps 100, We Are His People

Hebrews 11:1–2, 8–19. Jewish Christians looked back to their ancestors in the faith, interpreting the stories through the filter of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Luke 12:32–48. “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be.” Where we find our treasure is determined by many things, not least by our view of history as incomplete until the Lord returns.
