ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME C Lectionary #93
The readings are about repentance and about God's merciful response to our acknowledgement of our sin. The gift far outweighs the offense.
2 Samuel 12:7–10, 13. The prophet confronts David with a dual sin. Despite all that God has done for him, David could not obey the Torah. He arranged to have Uriah killed so that he could marry Bathsheba. The prophet invokes divine wrath, but David repents and is forgiven.
Psalm of the Day: Ps. (31) 32
This is a “wisdom” psalm that has features of a thanksgiving song. It begins by blessing God for merciful forgiveness, then the psalmist suggests that he (or she) believed this and confessed a sin, and indeed God offered forgiveness. Therefore, all are invited to praise God.

Galatians 2:16, 19–21. Paul proclaims his belief in justification by faith and his belief that this “justification” means that Christ is now dwelling and working in him and in all believers.
Luke 7:38–8:3. The contrast between the attitude of Jesus' wealthy host and the woman who washes and anoints his feet gives Jesus an opportunity to tell the parable of two debtors and teach about forgiveness.
