THIRTEENTH SUNDAY B Lectionary #98
“God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.” God’s presence is always healing and life-giving.
Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24. Here is one of the earliest statements of belief in personal immortality: God formed us to be “imperishable.” In general, this is a very positive view of creation as a revelation of God’s goodness.
Psalm of the Day: Ps (29) 30
Giving thanks for deliverance from a difficult illness, the psalmist invites others to join in God’s praises. If you used a setting of this psalm at the Easter Vigil, consider reusing that setting today. Otherwise consider these settings:

I Will Praise You, Lord (Schiavone) JS 985/LP 129

Suggested Common Psalm: Ps (102) 103
The Lord Is Kind and Merciful
2 Corinthians 8:7, 9, 13-15. Faith has practical consequences. Here, Paul evokes the example of Jesus’ self-sacrifice to encourage the Corinthians to contribute to help others in need.
Mark 5:21-43. A healing within a healing. The longer story, of how Jesus brings back to life the daughter of a synagogue official, encloses what seems to be an easier miracle--stopping a flow of blood. But that easier healing is made more dramatic by the fact that Jesus doesn’t have to say or do anything: Simply touching his garment brings healing to those with faith.
