2 Timothy 1:8-10. The covenant in Jesus has the same foundation as the covenant in Abraham: God's grace. It is only because God is merciful that we have been invited to share in the divine life.
Matthew 17:1-9. The story of the transfiguration shows Jesus fulfilling the covenant promises made in the Torah (Moses) and interpreted by the prophets (Elijah). Jesus is God's chosen one, though that fact won't be made clear “until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
