The Lord Is Kind and Merciful
Romans 8:26-27. God's grace is at work in us even (or especially) when we feel helpless to do anything. It is then, as the popular poster goes, when there is only one set of footprints, that God is carrying us.
Matthew 13:24-43. Three parables of the kingdom. Why do bad people get good stuff and never seem to suffer? One answer suggested by the first parable is: God is biding time, waiting until the harvest, when the wheat will be gathered into barns and the weeds will be bundled for burning. The second and third parables describe the kingdom growing in our midst, almost unseen, yet with dramatic consequences.
