Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be an NPM member with a demonstrated financial need enrolled full-time or part-time in graduate or undergraduate degree program of studies related to the field of pastoral music during the 2012-2013 school year. Applicant should intend to work at least two years in the field of pastoral music following graduation/program completion. Scholarship funds may be applied only to registration, tuition, fees, or books. Scholarship is awarded for one year only; former recipients may re-apply, but renewal is not automatic.
How to Apply
Submit the following four (4) items:
- Name and contact information:
- address, home and work phone, e-mail, and NPM membership number (found above your name on magazine mailing label)
- A brief essay explaining your definition of the term “pastoral musician”
- Description of your talents
- Your previous experience as a pastoral musician
- Your educational background
- Educational program where you will be/are enrolled. (please include: name of college/university, degree pursued or continuing education program, full or part-time status and major and/or minor fields of study)
- Three copies of a recording (CD format) that demonstrates your solo performance skills or those of an ensemble under your direction. The recording should be approximately 5 minutes in length. The CD must identify the piece or pieces on the recording and the performer(s).
- Two (2) letters of recommendation, including one written by your pastor.
- Completed Financial Need Statement (pdf file).
