Guidelines for NPM E-mail Forums

  1. The various NPM e-mail forums are an electronic means for NPM members to ask questions, share information, and offer mutual support to one another in the ministry of pastoral music.
  2. Any current NPM member is eligible to participate in NPM e-mail forum and may join by signing up through the NPM web site.
  3. All messages posted to a given list, including responses to other messages, should be directed the entire list membership. Private communication between members should be conducted off-line through private e-mails.
  4. Communicate your thoughts succinctly. One-word responses do little to enlighten or add to the conversation. Likewise, if you need to quote a previous message, cut and paste judiciously.
  5. All communication is to be conducted in a respectful, professional, pastoral, and helpful manner.
  6. Disagreement is often very helpful in clarifying issues and in improving musical and liturgical practices. Disagreements, however, should never become attacks on individuals or groups.
  7. Misunderstandings are common in the medium of e-mail. Please compose your message for technical and emotional clarity. When reading the messages of others, be patient and request clarification if necessary.
  8. The moderator of each forum is responsible for its good order. The moderator has the discretion to withhold postings and to suspend people from the list membership in consultation with the NPM President.

The NPM E-mail Forums are managed by Kathi Zysk.
