| Getting Around the Convention Liturgies, Plenums, Workshops, and Exhibits
Most convention activities will take place at the Cobo Center and the Detroit Marriott
at the Renaissance Center. These two venues are located approximately six blocks from one another, about ten to fifteen minutes walking or a fifty cent ride on the Detroit People Mover (elevated train). You may also purchase a bus package to take advantage of NPM shuttle service between these two venues and the lunchtime organ recitals at St. Mary Church in Greektown.
Evening Events
Many of the evening events on Tuesday and Thursday will be held at churches outside the downtown area. Because parking is limited at those sites, we strongly encourge you to sign up for the complete bus package.
Special Transportation Needs
If you require special transportation, we will happily work to meet your needs, but you must indicate your need on your registration form. If you will be bringing or renting a scooter or wheelchair, please indicate this fact when registering, so that we will have enough buses with lifts.
Bus Packages
- Complete Bus Package $85
Includes charter coach service to all convention venues, including Cobo Center, the Renaissance Center, and convention hotels. The complete package also includes transportation
to the churches at which organ breakout sessions will be held, lunchtime organ recitals, and all evening events.
- Events-Only Bus Package $30
Includes transportation to Tuesday and Thursday evening events not held at Cobo Center or the Renaissance Center. You may also purchase a bus pass for one or the other evening: Tuesday Evening Events bus $20; Thursday Evening Events bus $10.

Mindful that costs are rising everywhere, we have made an effort to keep convention costs down. We have not raised registration prices this year, and in addition . . .
- Early Bird registrants pay the same as the 2007 Advance
registration fee.
- Daily Early Bird registrants pay the same fee as the 2003
Advance registration fee.
- The convention T-Shirt and Pastoral Musicians’ Breakfast are the same price as 2005.
- The headquarters hotel (Marriott) is only $11 more per
night than the 2001 rates (or $15 less than 2009!).

Check or credit card payment must accompany registration. Registration must be postmarked on or before March 1 (Early Bird) or June 11 (Advance). Registrations postmarked after June 11 will be computed at the regular/on-site rate. You may register online. Registrations must be received at the NPM National Office (by mail, online, or by fax) by close of business June 30. After June 30 registration is available on-site only.
Cancellation: Requests received in writing at the NPM National Office postmarked on or before June 30 will receive a refund less a non-refundable $50 processing fee. After that date refunds are given only in the form of credit toward registration at a 2010 or 2011 NPM convention or institute. Refunds are processed after the convention.
Member Discounts
With a current NPM Parish Membership (of any size), the members’ rate is offered to anyone in the parish community. If your name is not on the parish membership, include the parish group number on your registration form.
If you have a current NPM Individual Membership, the members’
rate is available to you; it is not transferable to another person.
Not yet a member? The registration fee for non-members includes
an additional $67 for a one-year individual membership in NPM. Postage fees outside the United States, if applicable, will be billed later.
Clergy/Musician Duo Discount: Clergy members and musicians who register for the convention together and in advance receive an even deeper discounted rate. The one clergy member and one musician must be from the same parish or institution. NPM Parish Membership must be current. Registration and payment for both clergy and musician must be included together in the same envelope and be postmarked on or before the Early Bird or Advance registration deadline. (Sorry, this discount is not available online.)
Youth Discount: Youth (twenty-one or younger or full-time undergraduate)
attending the full convention receive a discounted rate. NPM membership required. If you don’t have a current Youth or Individual Membership and your parish does not have a current NPM Parish Membership, add $34 for a new Youth Membership on the appropriate line of the registration form. A parent or chaperone must accompany youth attendees under eighteen. Chaperone must be at least twenty-one years old and registered either for the Full Conference or as a Companion.
A signed copy of the Code of Conduct for Youth Participating in NPM Conventions, Code of Conduct for Chaperones and Parents Acting
as Chaperones, and the Parental or Guardian Permission Form and Release must be on file with NPM before anyone under the age of eighteen may be admitted to the Convention.
Daily Registration: Be sure to indicate the day(s) for which you are registering, and note that the fee for full conference registration is usually less than the fee for multiple days.
Group Discounts: NPM chapters and parishes with a current NPM parish membership who register in groups receive a discount. Registration forms must be mailed together with one check, postmarked by May 28. Contact the NPM National Office—(240) 247-3000—for more information.
Additional Information
Companion (Adult or Child): Those registering as companions are welcome to accompany a full convention registrant to all activities except breakouts or workshops. A separate registration form must be filled out for each companion including payment for any additional activities.
College Credit: Mount Saint Mary’s College of Los Angeles is offering one unit of graduate credit ($150) or one Continuing Education Unit ($15) to FULL CONFERENCE registrants. Registration
must be done with the Mount St. Mary’s representative onsite; for further information call Sr. Teresita Espinosa: (310) 954-4266).
Scholarship Assistance is available to cover the cost of convention
registration for persons or parishes of limited means. More information available online or request a packet from the NPM Office by calling (240) 247-3000. [top] |
