National Catholic Adult Choir Festival
Indianapolis, Indiana
July 7 - 9, 2007

Application Form and Information

The National Association of Pastoral Musicians invites choir directors and choir members to participate in the National Catholic Adult Choir Festival beginning on Saturday, July 7, at 1:00 pm and concluding with a Festival Performance on Monday, July 9 at 7:30 pm. The Festival will be part of the NPM National Convention, That All May Be One [jn 17:21], to be held in Indianapolis from July 9 to 13.

Our festival clinician and conductor is Dr. John A. Romeri. John became the Organist and Director of Music at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis in 1992. He serves the Archdiocese of St. Louis as Music Coordinator and is the Artistic Director for Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts. Before coming to St. Louis, he was the Organist-Choirmaster at the Church of the Assumption in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for nineteen years. In addition, he served as the Director of Music for the Diocese of Pittsburgh and taught at Duquesne University and Carlow College. In 2003 Dr. Romeri was named "Pastoral Musician of the Year" by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) at our national convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, and voted "Outstanding Choir Director for 1998-1999" by the Missouri Choral Directors Association. A frequent choral clinician, Dr. Romeri has conducted choral festivals in cities throughout the United States, and his choirs have toured Europe, French Canada, and the Eastern United States. In January of 1999 he provided the musical leadership for the pope's visit to St. Louis, conducting the choir and orchestra for the Mass and the evening prayer service.

In order to facilitate acceptances for choirs and participants as quickly as possible, we will be accepting singers on a first-come, first-served basis. Completed applications should be postmarked by May 15, 2007. Please submit applications as quickly as possible. You may download the application form and list of required pieces that includes information about obtaining discounted packets of the music.

Housing and meals are to be arranged by the participants. Please go to the convention registration form for housing information. The fee is $125 for a choir director or individual singer, and $100 for each additional singer from the same parish. Housing and food costs are over and above this registration fee. Full information about all of these details will be included for you in your acceptance packet.

Acceptance packets will be sent out by May 30, 2007. They will contain Festival location information as well as a tentative schedule. Registration for the festival rehearsals will at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 7. For singers under 18 years of age, NPM expects that The Code of Conduct for Youth Participating in NPM Conventions will be followed. This information is also available on the NPM website. The Adult Choir Festival Concert will be at 7:30 pm on Monday, July 9, at North United Methodist Church.

For our performance on Monday evening, singers are asked to wear all black for women and dark suit and tie for men. Also, singers should bring their music in a black folder along with a pencil.

All participants receive Convention Festival badges, which will serve as admission to the Convention and Exhibits on the opening day of the Convention, July 9. A full convention brochure will be included in your acceptance packet.
