The five members of the NPM Council of Chapters exist to serve NPM Chapter officers and members through the following services:

Leadership in the formation of new chapters
Charters, both temporary and permanent
Education and Formation for the development of existing and new chapters through conventions, workshops and other means
Selection of the annual Chapter of the Year
Regular mailings from the Council to chapter leadership, outlining ideas, opportunities and news
Support and guidance to chapters in difficulty and transition
