The NPM Hurricane Assistance Fund

Among the losses that many parishes have suffered in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita are hymnals, printed music, musical instruments, and musical equipment. NPM is establishing a fund for grants to Catholic parishes affected by the hurricane to assist in the purchase or repair of these items.

Since music is such a crucial element in parish life, this fund will help communities to find their voice once again as they rebuild their communities and church facilities.

There are several ways that NPM members can help to contribute or raise money for this fund:

• Groups or individuals can make an outright donation
• Concerts or other events could be planned for the benefit of the fund
• If your parish is planning to participate in the St. Cecilia Sing, the proceeds could be allocated to the NPM Hurricane Assistance Fund

Checks made payable to NPM may be sent directly to the NPM office. Please write "Hurricane Assistance" on the memo line. Send your tax-deductible contribution to: NPM Hurricane Assistance, PO Box 4207, Silver Spring, MD 20914-4207.

Parishes, companies, and individuals may also offer assistance to communities in need through the NPM Hurricane Clearinghouse.
